Every good and perfect gift is from above...
—James 1:17 NIV

I was inspired to become a doula when the first of our three children was born naturally in 1997. As a young mom, I was purely amazed the first time I placed my eyes on her. There was only one explanation that made sense to me. Even though I had to labor for her, she was a gift; a perfectly soft, peach-skinned miracle with red rosebud lips, placed in my arms. Today, I still share the same awe and wonder every time I support a woman giving birth. I know that will never change.

I am certified as a doula through DONA, and trained as a Lamaze (revised) childbirth educator. My husband and I also studied the Bradley Method before the birth of our second child which confirmed the importance of nutrition during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and provided us with other valuable information to pass along.

I enjoy homeschooling our children, gardening, going to the beach, reading and cooking. I look forward to leading a small group of kindergarten girls each Sunday at the church we attend. My family shares my love for nature and hiking and we have been known to escape to the mountains of NC when blessed with the opportunity.

I look forward to spending time with you before your baby comes, to get to know you and your plans. I will be available to answer any questions you may have. It is an honor to provide hands on support using massage and counter pressure along with various other comfort measures. I offer continuous support throughout labor, help with breastfeeding, and any other postpartum needs.

...a women's body is beautifully designed to grow, birth, and nurture a baby. To work properly, this elegant design requires patience and trust. A normal birth is one that unfolds naturally, free of unnecessary interventions.
