Whenever and however you intend to give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body, and your spirit for the rest of your life.
—Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth
As a labor support doula it is my dream to help you create the best experience possible, through education, position changes, breathing techniques, relaxation, and support. We will meet at least twice prior to you going into labor. We will take this time to talk about, what will happen, what your wishes are for your birth experience and any fears or concerns you might have. I will then be on call for you before and after your due date. When labor begins and you feel that you need me for support I will be there to assist you in every way I can. After delivery I will stay with you for a couple of hours to see that nursing is getting off to a great start and then head home to let you bond as a new family. I would like to meet with you again at least once postpartum to answer any questions you may have about the birth or nursing. I am also reachable by phone or email before and after birth if you should ever need me.
I am a mother of two beautiful girls. I loved giving birth to them and hope to share that joy and love with other mothers. It can be one of the most joyous and happy moments of a women's life. I have been married to my very supportive husband for 4 years and believe that a partner plays a very important part in the birth process.
I am ALACE doula trained and am pursuing my ALACE doula certification, as well a pursuing my ALACE birth educator training. I am also active in the La Leche League and believe that nursing it one of the greatest gives that you can give to yourself and your baby. I graduated from UNCW in 2002 with a degree in elementary education.
